Tree Removal

Sometimes a tree’s problems are so advanced that it can’t be treated. When a tree like this becomes a hazard, we use proper equipment and techniques to remove the tree and eliminate your safety and liability concerns.

Tree removal is a highly technical, yet delicate, task and requires highly qualified professionals. Tree removals address health, liability, and aesthetics and enable competing species to develop and mature. In certain instances, you may have to remove a tree that is alive if it is interfering with other trees, buildings, driveways, or utility wires.

Tree removal can be avoided in some cases, particularly when your McCreesh arborist feels that there is a safe and reasonable alternative available that will allow you to keep your beloved tree. Proactive tree service and maintenance is the best way to ensure the longevity of your trees and shrubs. Cabling and bracing create artificial support to structurally weak or injured trees and branches. These supports help to prevent injuries to your trees, such as crotch and branch failure, and help to provide protection against storm damage. This practice may extend the life and well-being of feature trees.

Tree removal in most urban and suburban landscapes presents a challenge. Trees in neighborhoods like yours are often surrounded by other valuable plantings or structures. Tree removals require careful dismantling by our highly trained personnel utilizing state-of-the-art machinery to ensure safety and the protection of your home. The use of specialized equipment during tree removals is determined by the conditions on your landscape, branch architecture, and the soundness of your tree.

Tree Trimming / Pruning

There are a number of reasons why your trees may need pruning.

Pruning for health involves removing diseased or insect-infested wood, thinning the crown to increase airflow and reduce some pest problems, and removing crossing and rubbing branches. Pruning can best be used to encourage trees to develop a strong structure and reduce the likelihood of damage during severe weather. Removing broken or damaged limbs encourages wound closure. Pruning for aesthetics involves enhancing the natural form and character of trees or stimulating flower production. Pruning for form can be especially important on open-grown trees that do very little self-pruning.

Thinning, which opens the foliage of a tree, reduces weight on heavy limbs and can reduce a tree's height; it also helps retain the tree's natural shape.

Cleaning and Deadwooding, which is the removal of dead, dying, diseased, crowded, and weakly attached limbs and watersprouts from a tree.

Raising or Elevating, which is the removal of lower branches in order to provide clearance for buildings, vehicles, pedestrians, etc.

Young trees can be topped to regulate the size and shape. Topping mature trees can cause serious injury and should be avoided if possible. We will only suggest topping a mature tree if it will reduce the risk of injury to people or property.

Cabling and Bracing

Cabling, Mature trees may have large and weak branches that could be hazardous. We can install steel or noninvasive Cobra cables to offer support and relieve strain to these large and weak branches, resulting in a much safer, more structured tree.

Bracing, For large, weak, or split crotches, bracing is used to give direct support and reduce twisting strain on the tree. A metal rod is inserted through the crotch and two more cables are placed above it.

Stump Grinding

Stump grinding is a practical and cost effective means of getting rid of tree stumps, which can otherwise take years to decompose. The chips produced from the grinding process can be recycled on your property or we can remove the stump grindings, install premium topsoil, seed, starter fertilizer and straw to establish new lawn and a finished look.

Our modern stump grinding equipment is light, maneuverable, quick, and non-intrusive. In most cases, once we are finished, there is no sign that equipment was ever on your property.

McCreesh Tree Service can remove your stumps or grind them down to a sufficient depth for a new lawn, landscaping or concrete work.

Tree and Shrub Fertilization: Healthy trees and shrubs are more resistant to insect and disease problems. Trees are usually fertilized in the spring and fall.

Insect and Disease Control: Trees can be sprayed to reduce the damaging affects of pests and diseases. In some cases a tree will eventually die if not treated. Treatments are usually yearly, and may require one to four applications.

Injection Technology: Some trees have covered root zones or are in locations unsafe to spray in. In these cases we inject the tree to provide fertilization, and insect or disease control in a more controlled environment.

It is up to you the customer to verify the tree company you hire is fully insured with workers compensation insurance.
